Track Your Business.com & Other Online Ads in Google Analytics

Hello hello,

First of all, Hallelujah that OBAMA is our next President.  Thank you Jesus and Praise the Lord :)

I’ve been involved in a big project at work.  Not only did it take me a month to figure out a.) that I needed to track my Business.com ads and b.) how to actually do it, it’s also taken me about 1 week to set it all up properly.

Here are the tricks I learned along the way:

  1. Call the Advertising Center Customer Support and ask for help in getting your Account set up and running properly.
  2. Let them help you by uploading their “proposed” listings, which should include the topics, keywords and ads for your products.
  3. Do NOT activate your your “Proposals” until AFTER you have properly set up Google Analytics tracking.
  4. Make sure you have your Google Analytics account set up properly.
  5. Make sure your web pages have both the proper Google Analytics code and the Business.com code installed on them (you probably need to talk to your webmaster about doing this).
  6. Open 2 tabs in your Firefox browser window.  In tab #1 login to your new Business.com account.  In tab # 2, go to this web address: http://www.webstreamdynamics.com/tracking-url-creator.asp
  7. Click on your Listings tab and then click the first listing name that you are planning to run in your account.  A new screen will open that displays your ad and your keywords.
  8. What you need to do is click on the light blue square button that says “Edit Keywords”
  9. Copy the keywords in the field that appears and click over to tab # 2.  Paste the keywords into the keywords box (you’ll have to delete the “[** **]” that appears after your keywords by hand) and fill out the rest of the fields and click submit.
  10. The tool will then generate the tracking URLs for you with a pale yellow background.  Copy that info and click back over the tab #1 and paste this new info into the field where you copied the keywords from.  You should be replacing the keywords in this field with the new tracking info generated by WebStream Dynamics PPC Tool.
  11. You should also replace the Default URL at the top with a trackable URL…this is optional and you’ll have to cut and paste one of the URLs from below into this field – I took out the utm_term info since it’s a broad match in Business.com
  12. Save Changes and move on to the next Listing – wash, rinse, repeat – do it over again until all your Listings are set up with tracking URLs.
  13. Then you send your campaign live and check the performance and make adjustments as necessary!

Make money online in 15 minutes?! Sh’yeah Right!

Probably not.  Realistically.  You do want the truth, right?

There are more claims out there than I can count, but I don’t think there has ever been a time when someone could site down and show you step-by step blueprints on how to make real money on the internet. And even if they could show you how to, I don’t think anyone in their right frame of mind would show you a way to do it WITHOUT spending a single penny on advertising.  Or would they?

For sure, we both know the Internet is huge.  Millions come online to have a crack at making an online income. The majority (99.9%) do not have a clue where to begin.  Can you relate?  I’ve tried so many techniques “exposed” by well known internet marketing gurus, but never have I made the really serious money.  Finally, a change today!

Enter Google Snatch (great name isn’t it?).  Well the thing is, the owner of Google Snatch is NOT a guru.  He’s a simple down to earth guy who just knows what to do to make money online! Best of all, the techniques he teaches will allow you to dominate not only a niche market but also markets that have thousands of competitors owned and run by large corporations.  Wheee! That should be fun :)

Latif implements his own methods and quite frankly hammers the competition. No Google Adwords to cheat, as each click costs an expensive $100.

A lot of people are afraid to compete in big markets because it’s true – people (companies) who have more money CAN demolish competitors.  But what Latif shares with you is that BIG companies have more money than sense (this is true – I work at one for my “day job” right now and believe me it’s true).

You will learn there is no need to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to make a buck (and then some) online.  With the right formula, (The FREE Click Formula) why should you waste money on paid clicks?

There is an inherent problem with paid advertising, whether it be on Google, Yahoo or MSN.  Sure, you can get high placements immediately, but who is clicking on your ads?

What I mean is, who is accumulating a large bill at the end of the month for you? Your competitors? Happy clickers? Or actual ‘real’ customers? (We call this “click fraud” in the industry).

The work involved is just as much as setting up a Google Adwords campaign. Since the Google Slap came to the scene, it was made clear that for each keyword you bid on it requires a unique page, as a must, to achieve good popularity ranking.

So the idea is simple, yet thousands think, actually MILLIONS think, Adwords is quicker.  This is crazy talk.  It takes 15 minutes for the world to see your listing! But in order to get to those 15 minutes, it takes the same time to find the keywords, create the landing page and to get the campaign on its feet. Overall you could say it takes maybe 60 – 90 minutes, maybe more.

Once this is setup, people will actually start seeing your ads AFTER 90 minutes as the work needs to be done beforehand.

Alternatively, the Google Snatch method!

It will only take 60 minutes for the world to see your ad, PLUS you don’t pay a single cent on a click. Yet to that matter never will you ever again pay for a click once you discovered these techniques. So this you could say is the REAL get your Google ads for free!

Next filler lesson for the blog making money online class

  1. Go to www.twitter.com
  2. Sign up for an account there.  Use your firstname_lastname if you want to promote yourself, or choose a “pen name” or “alias” you plan to stick with in your online career.
  3. Upload your picture.  You may have to optimize the photo or make it fit the right dimensions.  Email me your pic and ask me to do it for you if you have trouble with this part but you NEED a photo uploaded to your account.
  4. Find and Follow:  “skysurfergirl” (that’s me b4 I knew it was better to use my name)
  5. Once you are following me, I will follow you and we will be connected.
  6. I will then show you how to connect your twitter space to your blog.  As long as you twitter often (which is a lot easier than blogging – it’s called “micro-blogging”) then you can keep your blog active more easily.  As you know the search engines like active blogs and fresh content.
  7. I will also show you some easy ways to start having some great conversations online that will build up your foundation and your network.

Letter of Encouragement…

Aloha dear readers,

A dear friend of mine was feeling a bit lost in getting started with her internet business.  The first thing I want to say is that having a blog should be a joyous experience.  If it is not, move on.  You really need to find your bliss and your joy in your work and in your life.  This is a lesson I have learned from experience.

…I received your latest posting on your internet marketing site. I feel stumped with my self-discovery and what I can offer the public through the cyber world. Other than support and consultations on gardening and yoga, what else can I offer. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around how to make a business over the internet. ANyway, if you have any suggestions please offer…****

I looked back and I realized that not all of you set up your wordpress blogs. I think my friend’s concern above is very real for many of you. Just getting started seems impossible. Then there are some of you that dropped off because I kind of dropped the ball too. We are really close to the lesson about putting Adsense on your blog so you can start getting a check every month from Google. You won’t have anywhere to put the ad code if you don’t have your blog set up though. So you’ve got to do that and keep posting content. I assure you, there is exciting info coming your way. If you choose to write about something you have passion about then it doesn’t seem like work and it doesn’t seem daunting. What do you love? What do you do in your life? Are you travelling? Learning a new language? Or simply keeping it simple and holding down a schedule for you and your family? It’s all relevant to one of the 1 or so billion people on the internet. And you’ll get better with practice. Here’s my reply to my friend:

Anywayz, I wanted to encourage you to go to www.wordpress.com next time you are checking your email (like right now) and sign up for a blog. Name the blog either after yourself, or if you were a brand, what would you want to brand to be called? Don’t resist the marketing spin on this, self-promotion in this day and age is all about finding your own voice, your own passion, and sharing it with others. No shame.

For example, I have http://zhenya.wordpress.com … but I also have ecosurfchick.wordpress.com along with others. Just register something that resonates with you now (you can even check out what others have named their blogs). That is all you have to do for now. Just do that and send me your link once you have. The next lesson coming up is how to post to your blog once you’ve created it.

You can keep a written journal about your travels and transfer what you wish from those journal entries to the internet. Talk about your yoga practice, your spanish studies, your travels. Name towns, restaurants, hotels. Wax poetry and philosophy. Got it?

The Stompernet Live 6 event in Atlanta was amazing. I am so inspired. I am filled with the juice of action – I am willing and able to do what it takes to fly, and I want you all to fly with me. Two Common “Make Money Online” Pitfalls for You to Avoid

A lot of web sites, ads and businesses out there claim to make huge amounts of money online. In my research…and experience over the years my finding is that many of them are complete scams and others are complicated business ventures that try to come off as an easy or fast way to get rich or make money.

From this experience I came up with a few pitfalls as well as some tools that I used in sorting out these types of opportunities.

*Pitfalls*

Pitfall # 1. It is very easy to get caught up in spending money to obtain information. When looking into making money online do not pay for information about the opportunity. Period. Ever. There are plenty of free ebooks you can get out there by perfectly legitimate internet marketers that will give you excellent ground for making money online (I’ll offer a list of the good ones in another posting.

Case Study – Data Entry Opportunities
We have all come across the sites that claim that you can make thousands of dollars a week spending a few minutes a day whenever you want to. Most of these sites call themselves data entry opportunities. They tell you that if you can type an email you can do the job and make thousands of dollars a week. The information that is not shared prior to buying into the company is that you need to spend a great deal of money posting the advertisements that you type up.

I paid to learn more about the data entry positions. In the hype portion I was told that all I needed to do was to fill out forms and post them on the internet. I was not told that I first had to pay to get the forms and then had to pay to post them. I also had to research which company had the greatest potential of helping me recoup my money as well as make a profit. It was a very complicated and misleading experience.

Pitfall # 2. The next pitfall that I fell into in trying to make money online was the completion of surveys. This is the biggest rip off that there is on the internet. For one thing you can join companies to get mailed the surveys without going through a third party. The third party has you pay money then they simply give you the websites of the survey companies. I ended up spending money joining music and make up clubs as well as ordering magazines.

Case Study – Completion of Online Surveys~
There was one survey that I took that I was paid $1.50 for taking. The third party company stated that you could make hundreds of dollars a week spending fifteen to twenty hours. This was not a sure bet in making money online for me. The person that was making money online in this case was the one that found the survey takers for the companies, who in turn bought from the companies.

In Conclusion~
Making money online is possible, but it is not a get rich quick scheme and the old saying “if it sounds too good to be true it probably is” definitely applies.

So Save yo’ money and stick with me kid!  I am on the updraft now… :)

“It’s Been Awhile” – And even though I got mad, News is Good

Take heart, dear readers.  I have not forgotten about you, nor is this blog dead…just in hibernation while I sorted out a few things in the online space.  Am I a slow learner?  Maybe.  Or maybe I’m the perfect case study for a certain population of single mothers with children working to survive and thrive.
