“Gratitude is the Attitude”

This quote comes directly from my wonderful auntie Angeliea – check her out at http://www.Angeliea.com .  I think it is a great reminder – in fact I programmed my cell phone to remind me at 9 am each day to “be grateful”.  Every day my cell phone starts buzzing and displays this simple message on my screen, just as I usually am sitting down to work.  I stop for that moment and look around me at the abundance.  I tune into the sounds, smells and feeling of my world.  I connect with the Divine place within and give thanks for everything that I have.  I give thanks for my life, and the opportunity to live it in a conscious way.  It feels good.  Not only that, but I know gratitude is a really a powerful emotion that is fertile ground.  Since “like attracts like”, being grateful produces more reasons to be grateful.

Anyway, I believe Gratitude is one tool we have as a human race to uplift and evolve.  Thank you!

The Value of Your Unique Life Experience

Here is my divine reminder to myself for the day:

“Do not discount the value of your own unique experience in life.  Resist the temptation to label or judge your personal experience as good or bad – or anyone else’s as better or worse for that matter.  Better to simply live your life with awareness in each moment, gleaning what wisdom may come.  That is not to say do not strive to improve yourself and your situation.  But do so looking forward, with a firm trust and faith that Jah, the Most High, has your best interests at heart.”

This message hits home for me, as I work away at my computer, dreaming of surfing the waves down below.  Let me be of service to your Great Purpose, Oh Father Mother God.

SEM & Analytics – 2 Peas in a Pod

Interesting development in the Search Engine Marketing (SEM) industry – serious partnerships with web analytics firms.  According to the WebMetricsGuru -

WebTrends bought ClickShaft.  Last year HitWise bought a SEO/SEM company (forgot the name) and this year ClickTracks also bought an SEO/SEM company…..seeing a pattern grasshopper?

Well, it just so happens that WebSideStory & SEMDIRECTOR Partnered according to Web Analytics World.

As an SEO I find that my clients are often unaware of the importance of monitoring and understanding their traffic “stats” otherwise known as metrics.  However, taking the time to learn how to do this effectively is well spent as stats reveals many amazing insights into your business.

If you do want to learn more how to measure the effectiveness of your online marketing campaigns, here is a link that will give you some great information:  http://www.searchengineworkshops.com/articles/search-engine-metrics.html?kbid=2277

Getting Organized: Dispelling 8 Misconceptions of Organization

Are you one of those mythical folk who is just naturally organized?  If you are one of those people – good for you!  This article probably will not interest you that much though.  For people who struggle with organizing every year (such as myself) – it seems that it’s always at the end of the year when that little annoying bug begins nudging you to clear things up and start the New Year organized and refreshed.

Well, I have read quite a few directions, books, and helpful hints about getting organized (in fact, I’m thinking of writing one myself), and I’ve got to tell you there are some misconceptions being fostered by many an “organizational guru”.  So it is with great pleasure today that I share with you the “skinny” on this topic.

Here are the 8 misconceptions that we can throw out:

Misconception #1: You only need to handle paper once.
This is not only impossible, but in most cases it’s unrealistic.  Instead of handling paper once, get in the habit of doing something with each piece of paper to move it forward.  If you get some information about an upcoming seminar/trade show, for example, decide if you’ll attend or not.  If you’re to attend then note the date on your calendar and sign up.  If not, then toss the information immediately.  If you want to wait to sign up, then make a note in your planner to respond well before the deadline and file the paper in your “to-do” file. Gittr Dunn – Discovering My Efficiency Zone

Experts say that every one one of us has an “efficiency zone”.  The zone is the mental state where we find ourselves accomplishing a great deal at a rapid clip, although it feels natural and comfortably paced.  It is a zen-like state in which our true productivity potential is released.  For example, when motivated with a specific benefit, such as a high score on a school test, I’ve been able to complete and comprehend a book in record time.  The efficiency zone is available to any person, of any trade or craft.  A carpenter could go into it while nailing shingles on a rooftop, developing a rhythm naturally and doing a fine job at a fast clip without even realizing it.

I am on a personal quest to become aware of when and how I get into my efficiency zone.  I know, intellectually, that my time is valuable and that I am worthy of great things.  Now, my goal is to tap into the zone and apply it to all areas of my life.  One of my favorite sayings is “Gittr Dunn” (I’m from the dirty south – can you tell?) It’s says it so perfectly and with so much American cultural flair :-)

I believe that if we could all live in our efficiency zone all of the time, the world would be more productive, television would suffer massive ratings shortfalls and we would all be happier.  Amen!  I actually believe that as humanity evolves, we will be able to live more in this kind of self-directed, focused state of existence.
