Blog Class - Lesson 1 ~Pick Your Theme~

Hello Dear Ones,

This lesson is a day late. I hope every one is still psyched and inspired and ready for action! Thanks for your patience…

One thing that is so great about creating wealth via the internet…it’s on your time schedule. To a certain degree. Don’t let yourself become so laissez-faire that you do nothing. Your time, energy and effort are still required. But if you do it a day later, or at 2 a.m. or 7 a.m. is your choice. Beautiful!

Let’s begin now.

Remember…FOCUS.

I want to remind you of this again and again as FOCUS is the theme of this class. Focus on one thing (one internet marketing venue), learn it well, do it well, before moving on to learn the next thing. Otherwise it is an endless sea - an endless tide of information and possible choices and outcomes. Ultimately the sheer number of choices becomes overwhelming for some, and inaction results. We don’t want that to happen to you!

Now, part of the requirement for joining the blogging class is that you be subscribed to my blog via email or feed. Let me explain how this is going to work in terms of your focussing successfully. You only need to pay attention to the blog email/posts you receive that have “Blog Class” in the title. Okay?

You do not need to read all the other emails /posts that you receive from this blog that do not have “Blog Class” in the title.

If you like reading my posts and have the time, then by all means, be my guest. Of course I don’t MIND if you just gobble up my words ravenously ;-)

However you do not need to read every one of my posts that comes in your inbox in order to keep up with this class. I’m presenting the Blogging Class information in tiny, baby steps (once a week or so posting) so that even the most novice-novice newbie can keep up, or the most busy person can still find a moment to develop their blog - your very own piece of internet real estate.

So why do I post if you don’t need to read all of them? Because in order to maintain a blog that is fresh, lively and spider-friendly I need to post articles and new content regularly (being “spider-friendly” means Google and the other major search engines come back regularly to check for new content).

Assignment 1: Pick a Theme for your Blog. A Theme that You Love, and That Others Relate To.

What are you going to blog about? Your blog needs a theme and one or more topics for you to create articles on. The theme needs to be something you are passionate about. Something that you can sit down and write about on a daily basis.

In the beginning you should try to post a new piece to your blog at least once a day. It can be a short posting of a few sentences, and in a future lesson I will share with you blog copywriting techniques to help pique your readers interest, keep them reading, etc.

Speaking of keeping them reading, you also need to think about what you can offer of value to your readers. Advice? Life experience? Hard-to-find expert information? Just start thinking about this - you don’t need to have it all figured out, but I do want it to be in the back of your mind.

Examples of Blog Themes: Would you like to promote your career or identity? Perhaps you’d like to support a company web site or a retail store? Maybe you’d like to study a topic in more depth and want to share that journey with others?

Your homework for Assignment #1 is to email me your ideas for a blog theme. You should have my email address from the original invitation I sent out. If you do not, post a comment that says “I need your email address” under this post and I will respond to you with the info.

Thanks again for being willing to join into this community of dreamers and visionaries. I support you each and every one in acheiving your dreams…Looking forward to receiving your homework :)
