Letter of Encouragement…

Aloha dear readers,

A dear friend of mine was feeling a bit lost in getting started with her internet business.  The first thing I want to say is that having a blog should be a joyous experience.  If it is not, move on.  You really need to find your bliss and your joy in your work and in your life.  This is a lesson I have learned from experience.

I received your latest posting on your internet marketing site. I feel stumped with my self-discovery and what I can offer the public through the cyber world. Other than support and consultations on gardening and yoga, what else can I offer. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around how to make a business over the internet. ANyway, if you have any suggestions please offer…****

I looked back and I realized that not all of you set up your wordpress blogs. I think my friend’s concern above is very real for many of you. Just getting started seems impossible. Then there are some of you that dropped off because I kind of dropped the ball too. We are really close to the lesson about putting Adsense on your blog so you can start getting a check every month from Google. You won’t have anywhere to put the ad code if you don’t have your blog set up though. So you’ve got to do that and keep posting content. I assure you, there is exciting info coming your way. If you choose to write about something you have passion about then it doesn’t seem like work and it doesn’t seem daunting. What do you love? What do you do in your life? Are you travelling? Learning a new language? Or simply keeping it simple and holding down a schedule for you and your family? It’s all relevant to one of the 1 or so billion people on the internet. And you’ll get better with practice. Here’s my reply to my friend:

Anywayz, I wanted to encourage you to go to www.wordpress.com next time you are checking your email (like right now) and sign up for a blog. Name the blog either after yourself, or if you were a brand, what would you want to brand to be called? Don’t resist the marketing spin on this, self-promotion in this day and age is all about finding your own voice, your own passion, and sharing it with others. No shame.

For example, I have http://zhenya.wordpress.com … but I also have ecosurfchick.wordpress.com along with others. Just register something that resonates with you now (you can even check out what others have named their blogs). That is all you have to do for now. Just do that and send me your link once you have. The next lesson coming up is how to post to your blog once you’ve created it.

You can keep a written journal about your travels and transfer what you wish from those journal entries to the internet. Talk about your yoga practice, your spanish studies, your travels. Name towns, restaurants, hotels. Wax poetry and philosophy. Got it?

Go forth and share your passion and look out for my next video coming soon on how to post to your new blog!

xoxo

Let’s Become Millionaires Together, OK?!

Hi everyone,

The Stompernet Live 6 event in Atlanta was amazing. I am so inspired. I am filled with the juice of action – I am willing and able to do what it takes to fly, and I want you all to fly with me. Because on the internet that is how it works – we help one another and it in turn helps ourself. It’s all about the CyberCommunity.

Just to keep you in the loop, here’s a chat transcript between myself and my coworker today…she wanted to know what I learned and how she can apply some of the stuff too.
Session Start (zhenyanhr:Alana 3722): Wed Aug 27 13:25:16 2008
[13:25] Alana 3722: when do you have time to talk story about your trip
[13:25] zhenyanhr: sigh…
[13:25] zhenyanhr: I wish sooner but I have to get several things off my desk…probably won’t be until next week
[13:25] zhenyanhr: but I do want to tell you about the twitter thing
[13:26] zhenyanhr: and the root idea here
[13:26] zhenyanhr: is that you need to develop your personality and your brand
[13:26] zhenyanhr: even when you are working for someone else
[13:26] zhenyanhr: so get concise about your passions in life
[13:26] zhenyanhr: and start to develop yourself online as an expert in that field
[13:26] zhenyanhr: keep the blogging thing up as I said
[13:27] zhenyanhr: and you can link twitter to your blog and have it update both places at once
[13:27] zhenyanhr: and you can also update twitter from your phone
[13:27] zhenyanhr: there is A LOT of info
[13:27] zhenyanhr: so I’ll give you a little at atime
[13:27] zhenyanhr: so you don’t get overwhelmed
[13:27] Alana 3722: =)
[13:27] zhenyanhr: did you link up twitter to your phone yet?
[13:27] Alana 3722: i didnt
[13:27] zhenyanhr: as you can see I am a spout of info ready to go off at any moment
[13:27] zhenyanhr: do that
[13:27] zhenyanhr: i have reasons for telling you these things you know!
[13:28] Alana 3722: does it charge as a text?
[13:28] Alana 3722: i know, im excited to hear about it
[13:28] Alana 3722: ill set it up
[14:03] zhenyanhr: yep you do get charged normal text rates – do you have a plan?
[14:03] zhenyanhr: I get 250 txts a month for $5.00
[14:03] zhenyanhr: that’s old so you can prob get an even better deal now
[14:03] zhenyanhr: worth it
[14:03] zhenyanhr: don’t worry though we aren’t going to utilize it until we need to

You heard me! Start writing on your blog every day. I don’t care what you write about. Write about how you love the blue sky. Write about the shoes you want to buy. Write about your headache, or if you actually have an article, post that. It doesn’t matter. Just keep your blog alive.

And sign up for a Twitter.com account and hook it up to your cell phone. And look for “skysurfergirl” and follow me and I will follwo you, OK? That’s a blog class lesson. Just do it!

“It’s Been Awhile” – And even though I got mad, News is Good

Take heart, dear readers.  I have not forgotten about you, nor is this blog dead…just in hibernation while I sorted out a few things in the online space.  Am I a slow learner?  Maybe.  Or maybe I’m the perfect case study for a certain population of single mothers with children working to survive and thrive.

In any case, I can wax philosophy on that some other time.  Right now I want to announce my very first one-time offer web site subscription page is now up and running!  Please check out Smart Easy Online Marketing ClickMail @ – you guessed it – http://www.smarteasyonlinemarketing.com/clickmail

I am going to write a book about my experience doing this – seriously.  I got mad and it inspired me to create a system that isn’t so tricky, conniving and greedy to actually help people make a real income online.  But that is in the future, after I have some success myself.  So this is a milestone – site # 1 is complete!

I’ll be back soon to finish up the blog course – don’t give up on me – or yourself.

Love.

Blog Class – Lesson 5 ~ Time to Move Your Blog Into It’s New Apartment~

Now that you have the inspiration, the studio/apartment (hosting), the studio’s address (domain name), now you need the tools to create your masterpiece (wordpress installation).

A Video, Folks! See Lil’ Zhen-zhen in Thrilling Mouse-Gripping Action!

Ok, I know I said this class was going to be super duper easy, and it is. Still, you might need some handholding for this lesson. So I made a video to show you how to install WordPress in a 3ix.com hosting account.

Watch it and learn. It’s less than 10 minutes short. If you still need extra help getting WordPress installed and properly set up (say if you have another host that looks different), I am happy to offer individual assistance in exchange for something of value (cash or trade – massage, dance, wax, childcare, etc :) )

Video # 4 – Install WordPress – Move Into Your Apartment Already! – 9:12 – 6.6 MB

Blog Class – How to Best Use Video Tutorials

Hola

I conducted a private tutoring session with Laurel of www.ConsciousMamas.com (previously http://wordpress.consciousmama.com ) today. I will make a separate post to include you all in the great progress that was made.

I hope Laurel learned something in working with me, and I thank her for her time as well because I learned something about some of you…in working with the videos.

She expressed feeling a mite intimidated about watching and working with the videos. She also did not know what to expect. So let me just clue all of you in that may be afraid to even open the videos and see what they are all about. Read the rest of this entry »

Blog Lesson 4 ~Giving Your Blog’s Apartment Digits~

Now  that  you’ve:

  1. Picked a topic
  2. Purchased a domain name from a registrar (your apartment’s address)
  3. Purchased a hosting account (rented an apartment  for your blog)

You next need to tell your registrar to attach your domain name to the actual physical location of your hosting account.  You will:

  1. Make note of your hosting account’s DNS Nameservers (found  in the Welcome Email from your  hosting account)
  2. Log in to your Godaddy.com (or your registrar) account
  3. Navigate to the Manage Your Domains area of the site
  4. Change from Godaddy’s default Nameservers to Your Hosting Account’s
  5.  Save

Don’t worry!  I have 2 videos to walk you through the process…

Video # 2 – Buying Hosting with 3ix – 5:14 minutes – 7.3 MB

Video # 3 – Point Your Domain Name to Your Hosting Account -  5:36 minutes – 6.2 MB

I know these lessons are coming at you fast, don’t  worry I think most  of you are at  this point, and if not, well, the videos will be here  for you to watch when you are ready to.

Merci beaucoup for your support, y’all!

Blog Class ~Make Way for Video!~

Aloha,

Everyone still there?  I’m about  2 weeks overdue on the last lesson, but take heart! because I’ve got  the next 4 lessons  all ready to go now.  Major progress is about  to be had by all.  Yeehaw.

I got  a new piece of software that  allows me to record my computer screen as I  click around and do things and my voice  narrating what it is exactly I’m doing.   I think it  is an excellent way to provide you with  instruction, especially as we get into the more technical aspects of getting your blog set up and then actually blogging.

And be sure  to let  me know what  you think so I can  continually improve.  These first  videos are definitely a tad bit “Raw”.  Also, if you still find yourself confused after watching the videos, please submit your questions here and I’ll try to  answer, if  that doesn’t work, you can always hire Divina Commedia to install WordPress for you.  Just contact me if  this becomes an issue  for you.

This Video is a review of the previous 3 blogging lessons as well  as an overview of buying a domain name from Godaddy.com .  Click the “Blog Class Video #1″ link below and be prepared to wait for  a few minutes for the video to load and play on your screen as the video file size is fairly large (you’ll need to be on a high speed connection).

Blog Class Video #1 – 11.1 MB – Video time is 6:04
Review of Previous Lessons; Buy a domain name at  Godaddy.com

Difference between blog posts & authoritative articles

Hello my  Hungry Blog Class students – thanks for keeping me on track.  Every question and comment you send to me reminds me to keep on delivering.  The post below is not for the class per se.  It’s actually an answer to a question an Anitron client asked me – figured I’d keep my blog fresh by sharing my answer to him.  Lesson # 4 is coming  I swear, I’m using new software to produce the lesson and also it has been busy for me with some projects I’ve got cooking.  In due time you shall know  just what it is I’ve been  up to so late every night!

Q:  “What’s the difference between blogging and authoritative articles”

A:  If  you work with Anitron Internet  Marketing, Authoritative articles are “ghostwritten” for you; of course our clients are always welcome to collaborate on these articles.

A couple of possible differences in blog content and article content is formality and length.  Typically blog posts are broken into short posts 3 or 4 paragraphs tops is ideal; articles are ideally 300 to 500 words.  Blog topics can meander a bit from post to post, covering  a variety of subjects from directly about  real estate, to those that are related or supportive of (ex. for real estate blog, related topics would include reviews about nightlife, attractions, stores, etc.).

Articles can focus on any topic, but they typically stick to this topic for the duration of the article.  Therefore it is more advisable to cover a related topic that lends credibility to the industry as well as the company.  Next to the blog, this is a  powerful way to build reputation and traffic on the internet.  Articles bring incoming links.

Check out this article in WorkZ on how this is done:  http://www.workz.com/content/view_content.html?section_id=517&content_id=6999
